Applications of BBa_K1966003

This part has been shown to be functional for the following activities:

1)conversion of toluene to benzaldehyde
2)conversion of m-xylene to m-tolualdehyde
3)conversion of p-xylene to p-tolualdehyde

The figure below demonstrates conversion of toluene, m-xylene, and p-xylene to the respective aldehydes as described above. This part was not successful in conversion of 3-chlorotoluene, m-anisole, and p-anisole, which is also seen below.

The 3 GC-MS chromatograms below show the results of conversion of each substrate after 8 hours of incubation with E. coli BL21 DE3 containing part BBa_K1966003.

Further characterization will be attempted for the following functions:
1)conversion of 3-chlorotoluene to 3-chlorotolualdehyde
2)conversion of m-anisole to m-anisaldehyde
3)conversion of p-anisole to p-anisaldehyde

Registry information will be updated as to whether or not these functions have been shown.
